The Santa Susana Depot Museum and Model Railroad in Simi Valley CA is a hidden gem that brings you back to a time when train travel was the norm. Built in 1903, this historical building has been fully restored and is now home to a railroad museum, an HO scale model railroad, and public meeting rooms.

Located in the heart of Simi Valley, the museum and model railroad are a fun way to learn about the local history while also enjoying a day of entertainment! The museum has several exhibits displaying artifacts and photos from the history of railroads in the region.

One of the highlights is the HO scale model railroad layout that is a 50 foot by 30 foot depiction of Southern Pacific's Coast Line during the transition era between the 1950s and 1960s. The layout is owned and operated by the Santa Susana Railroad Historical Society.

Tunnel 27 – Santa Susana Pass

This tunnel is 7,369 feet (2,246 m) long and runs through the Simi Hills and Santa Susana Mountains in Southern California. It is credited with saving considerable time and distance between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

It was constructed in 1903 by the Southern Pacific. The tunnel allowed a more efficient means of transporting freight and passengers between the cities.
