Bell Canyon Park

Located in the western San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, West Hills is a popular residential and commercial neighborhood. It is rich with Mexican, Native American and Spanish heritage and is home to several large open space parks including El Escorpion Park, Bell Canyon Park and Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve.

The area was once inhabited for around 8,000 years by the Chumash-Ventureno and Tongva-Fernandeno tribes who lived and traded in the Simi Hills and close to tributaries of the Los Angeles River. They built a village, Hu'wam, near present-day Bell Creek and Escorpion Peak (Castle Peak) to meet with other tribal groups and trade goods.

Today, West Hills is a popular community for people who appreciate its scenic landscapes and moderate temperatures. It is home to many families and celebrities looking for a safe, quiet environment where they can raise their children while living in an area with excellent schools.

Hiking Trails in West Hills

The community is home to several popular hiking trails that are ideal for families, couples or singles who want to spend a little time outdoors and enjoy the scenery. These trails offer a variety of levels, from easy to moderate and even challenging.

One of these trails is called the Castle Peak Trail, and it takes you to a high point with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and city lights of Los Angeles. The vistas are worth the trip alone, but there are also other cool features to see at Castle Peak including a cave that is perfect for climbing.

Other trails in the area take you to a number of rocky cliffs and ancient oaks. The trails are unpaved, and they're a great place to enjoy nature while getting some exercise.

Rattlesnake Resistant

There are a number of snakes in the area, so make sure to wear insect repellent and avoid contact with any that might bite. In addition, be sure to use gloves when handling any animals you might find in the park.

This is a great spot for a quick hike, but it can be difficult to find parking. The best way to get there is by taking the Metro Green Line to the Canoga Park Station and then walking south on Ingomar Street. Then, you can walk a few blocks to Bell Canyon Road and look for the parking lot at the end of the street.

A hike in Bell Canyon is not for the faint of heart, but it is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It has beautiful mountain views, a creek that runs through it, and a cave that you can climb up to!

Bell Canyon is also a great spot for a picnic. There are tables and barbecue pits at the park, and the area is well-suited for kids to play on the playground or in the grassy areas.

If you have a loved one who is suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia, it is essential to find the right Alzheimer's care facility in Bell Canyon that can help them. There are 38 facilities in the area, and A Place for Mom can help you locate a care home that suits your family's budget, interests and care needs.
