Simi Valley, CA is a city located in the southeastern section of Ventura County. It is about 40 miles west of Los Angeles. It is connected to the San Fernando Valley by the Santa Susana Pass. The city is surrounded by Thousand Oaks and Moorpark, and is bordered by the Santa Susana Mountains to the north. The Simi Hills are to the east. In recent years, the city has become a popular location for film and television production.
During the 1950s, agriculture dominated the community. Farming and ranching was the main industry, although apricots, walnuts, and citrus also grew in Simi. As the population grew, a small business community developed in the area. Many Latino families came to Simi to work in the fields, or to join the white ranchers.

Some of the movies that have been filmed in Simi include Three Amigos, The Benchwarmers, and The Cat in the Hat. The Smashing Pumpkins' music video for "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and Limp Bizkit's music video for "Break Stuff" were shot at the Simi Valley skatepark.
A few of the other films that have been filmed in the valley are Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Three Wishes, Forever Young, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and the 2008 movie, Viva Roc
k Vegas. Others have been filmed at Corriganville Movie Ranch.
In 1904, the railroad was built through the valley. This opened the city to modern residential development. There is a train station in the town, but the station is unstaffed. Tickets are available from conductors on board trains or from travel agents.
Simi has a relatively warm climate during the winter, and only 18 inches of rain falls during the year. However, there is rarely any snowfall. When there is snow, it is usually found in the nearby mountains.
In the summer, the climate is generally hot and dry. The average maximum temperature is 96 degF in August and the minimum is 38 degF in December. The city has approximately 50 parks that preserve the natural environment. These parks also serve as wildlife corridors. Several of the parks are multi-purpose trail systems that are open to the public.
Simi Valley is home to the California Collegiate League baseball team, the Simi Valley Senators. Simi Valley is a part of the Greater Los Angeles Area, which includes Thousand Oaks, the San Fernando Valley, and the Westside of the City of Los Angeles. Several other teams play in the collegiate league, including Cal State Northridge, Cal State Channel Islands, UCLA, and the University of La Verne.
Simi is known for its proximity to Hollywood. Filming of several popular television shows has been done there. Some of the most well-known films filmed there include The Benchwarmers, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Three Amigos, Forever Young, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of CObra.
Simi is also home to several parks. One of these is the 150-acre Tierra Rejada Park. It offers hiking trails to the nearby community of Moorpark. Another of the parks is the Wood Ranch Open Space. If you love nature, you'll love a visit to Simi.
